How to Livestream DJ Sets on StreamrTV (Phone & PC Guide)

Jul 16, 2025

StreamrTV supports high-quality livestreaming for DJs using tools like OBS, Camo, BlackHole, and VB-Cable. Whether you’re mixing live from your studio or recording a polished set for later, this guide shows you how to do it with gear you likely already own.

This is a complete DJ live streaming tutorial, outlining four workflows for mobile and desktop setups.

Written in collaboration with StreamRouter — the first to livestream a DJ set on StreamrTV.

1. Livestream from Your Phone with Pro Audio

Goal
: Stream live from your phone while sending clean audio directly from your DJ controller or mixer — no background noise, no distorted phone mics.

What You’ll Need:

  • DJ controller/mixer with RCA or line-out

  • Audio interface (e.g. Behringer UCA222, iRig Stream)

  • Adapter: Lightning (iPhone) or USB-C (Android)

    • Note: Using an adapter with both camera and USB inputs allows you to power the phone while streaming.

  • Phone with StreamrTV loaded

Steps:

  1. Connect your DJ controller’s output to the audio interface.

  2. Connect the interface’s USB to the camera input on your phone adapter.

  3. Connect the adapter’s USB input to a powered USB outlet.

  4. Launch StreamrTV on your phone.

  5. Select the connected input and go live.

Bypasses noisy built-in mics and sends studio-quality sound into your stream.

2. Use Your Phone as a Camera + Stream from PC

Goal
: Combine your phone’s high-quality camera with the control of desktop streaming.

Tools:

Steps:

  1. Install Camo on your phone, and Camo Studio on your computer.

  2. Connect the phone via USB (preferred) or Wi-Fi.

  3. In OBS:

    • Add a Video Capture Device

  4. Select Camo as the source

  5. Select the connected input and go live.

Alternatively, use Camo Camera directly in StreamrTV and route audio using BlackHole (Mac) or VB-Cable (Windows).

For audio routing, see the next section.

3. Route Master Audio from Rekordbox into OBS or StreamrTV

Goal
: Send clean Rekordbox audio with no mic bleed or background noise.

On macOS (BlackHole):

  1. Install BlackHole 2ch

  2. Open Audio MIDI Setup and create a Multi-Output Device with:

    • ✅ BlackHole

    • ✅ Your usual output (e.g. headphones)

  3. Set Rekordbox audio output to the Multi-Output Device.

  4. In OBS or StreamrTV, select BlackHole as the Audio Input.

On Windows (VB-Cable)
:

  1. Install VB-Audio Cable

  2. Set Rekordbox output to VB-Cable Input

  3. In OBS, add VB-Cable Output as an Audio Input source

Delivers high-quality digital audio directly from your DJ software.

4. Record Your Set First, Then Stream Later

Goal
: Capture your DJ set in high quality, then stream it later with branding or edits.

Using a Phone
:

  • Record video using your phone, Camo, or another camera app

  • Transfer to your computer

  • Stream later on StreamrTV using:

    • ✅ Browser tab sharing

    • ✅ OBS Media Source

Using a Computer:

Option A:

  • Record video/audio live with any of the above setups

  • Export and stream using:

    • ✅ Browser tab sharing

    • ✅ OBS Media Source

Option B:

  • Record audio in Rekordbox using its recorder

  • Record video using webcam, DSLR, or Camo

  • Sync audio/video in Premiere Pro or similar

  • Stream the final cut on StreamrTV

Great for branded mixes, promo sets, and polished uploads.

Tips for Better Streaming

  • For smooth and high-quality streaming, check your internet upload bandwidth (not peak, but continuous) and adjust your stream settings accordingly

  • (E g. if you have 10 Mbps upload speed, you can reliably stream a file at 6–7 Mbps.

  • A 720p-1080p 24–30 fps video rendered at 5–15 Mbps in H.264 .mp4 format will usually be the sweet spot in terms of file size, render time, streaming output, and bandwidth usage.

  • While shooting video, if it's not a dynamic composition (e.g., party, sports, etc.), it's best to use 24–30 fps.

  • While recording audio, for better quality, use a minimum of 128 Kbps with 48 kHz sample rate.

  • Additionally, if you're streaming via OBS, it’s recommended to limit the streaming bandwidth manually to improve stability and overall stream quality.
